serious books and video rental. apparently the owner did a direct deal with hollywood movie studios to get latest releases before japanese distributors do. anjin lounge serves drinks and food in very luxurious surroundings all via ipad. we love the bound volumes of magazines from the 1960 and beyond on everything from architecture to fashion. also lots of vintage design books. you can spend all day in here.
aimed at 50 year old plus. this is interesting given that daikanyama since the mid 90s became a stomping ground of the young and over fashionable. however they have largely abandoned the area in the last few years. it seems daikanyama is about to be return to the old affluent area it used to be.
luxurious. feels more like a country club in scandanavia than tokyo.

extensive now not so new [opened 11.2011] tsutaya bookstore and second floor anjin café lounge aimed at over 50 year olds, but it’s so cool you will want to go there too. the bookstore alone is pretty incredible but tsutaya have now incorporated it with an upstairs lounge, a very chic starbucks, and a slick family mart convenience store. adjoining establishments include ivy place restaurant, a pretty incredible photography store, bike shop, pet hotel and more. even the expansive white pebbled car park out the back looks cool.
