music that can be described as "weird," "fringe," "different" -- genres such as: indie/post/prog/psych/space/kraut/stoner rock, black/death/doom/stoner metal, electronica, underground hip-hop, 20th century classical, ambient, noise, drones, found sounds, italian prog from the 70s, blues & americana, and -- if your ears aren't very adventurous -- lots of good indie pop.

everyone at aquarius listens to what they sell, so if you're curious about anything, ask. they'll even put stuff into the cd player if you want to hear something.
tiny, cramped, overflowing with cds and vinyl. the building is worn in, like a pair of jeans, but it reeks of character. music isorganized by genre, for the most part, then again by artist or letter. posters, art, expensive records, and box sets decorate

coolest [and oldest] independent music store in the city. it's about 1/100th the size of amoeba -- and don't get me wrong, amoeba is great -- but amoeba is massive and impersonal, whereas aquarius is small, friendly, and hyper-knowledgeable. all music is hand-picked and hand-selected and the people who work here actually listen to and know all about the music they sell.
