A longtime fixture in the retail landscape of Union Square in downtown San Francisco, Bottega Veneta has raised its profile by expanding its retail space. The retail space has not only increased to 312 sqm. (3,355 sq.ft.) but it has now also gained a second and more prominent entrance on Geary Street. The new design, created by Bottega Veneta‘s in-house design team in Milan, comes with a façade clad in Absolute Black, a fine-grained, deep black gabbro that’s quarried in Zimbabwe. Inside, the setting have been revamped accordingly, featuring whitewashed floors paired with concrete flooring and solid wood sculptural shelving and loose furniture pieces designed in collaboration with the French artist Raphaël Zarka. The design’s modern austerity is softened by hand-knitted merino wool carpeting and plants in limited-edition sculptural ceramics by Danish-born ceramicist Anders Ruhwald. The renewed Bottega Veneta store carries the full range of women’s and men’s apparel, accessories, shoes, bags, small leather goods, eyewear and jewellery. Coinciding with the store opening, a denim Cassette bag has been released which is exclusively sold at this boutique.

Publishers Note
Just to be clear – superfuture® is a design blog and not a political commentator. No surprise there. The scope of our content has always been global and borderless, however that can often mean covering projects in countries where we will not agree with the politics or actions of those countries. In a world that’s as screwed up as ever right now, the focus of our support is to those designers, architects and other creatives who aim to make the world a more liveable one – as opposed to people that try their hardest to destroy it. So if a project hits our desk and we like it based on its design credentials, we may choose to publish regardless of its location or creators nationality. superfuture® has always been inclusive and hopes for all current wars, aggression, violence, hate and extremism to end.
