Art and design go well with high-end shopping, and nowhere else on the planet is this better demonstrated as in the ever-expanding retail landscape of Miami‘s buzzing Design District. The latest global brand to arrive onto the scene is Acne Studios. The Stockholm-based fashion house can be found in all leading shopping arenas and it was a matter of time when it would arrive here. Well, now it has. Sitting on the same block as the Institute of Contemporary Art, the store occupies 200 sqm. (2,153 sq.ft.) set across two floors of a modern low-rise building. The interior design by Swedish architect and longtime collaborator Christian Halleröd sees the ground floor encased by a sleek, modular shelving system of polished aluminium and glass. A backdrop of marmorino walls, textured with high-gloss white plaster, and flooring of black granite steps and custom-made rugs by Swedish company Kasthall add texture and depth to the setting.

Another longtime collaborator of Acne Studios is Paris-based designer and light artist Benoît Lalloz who created the metal rectangular light fixtures which are featured in a dynamic configuration across the ceiling. Subtle nods to the Miami Art Deco style come in details of settees and special mannequins created by sculptor Daniel Silver. Additional furnishings comprise British designer Max Lamb‘s irregularly shaped large blobs which serve both as seating and displays. Interestingly, the pieces reference the unexpected quality of the brand’s silhouettes from the S/S 2023 collection which Lamb reimagined in block shades of hand-dyed batik fabrics. A large and visually dramatic black cylinder protrudes from the ceiling on the ground floor, housing a spiral staircase which leads to the upper floor. The new Acne Studios store carries the brand’s women’s and men’s apparel,
