deep among the skyscrapers of canary wharf is a glossy refuge by way of kerala. traditional ruby murray this is not, chai ki dining room and toddy shop is a lighter, fresher, more authentic take on un/familiar indian fayre. give them 5 minutes and the friendly crew will guide you through the menu accented with personal anecdotes of dishes grandmother used to make or street food feasted on from railway stands. for brunch with a twist, head here for the spiced potato aloo tiki bun spiked with tamarind tomato ketchup, railway omelette with a caramel shake or the indulgent mango shirkand with rich saffron yogurt, berries and toasted almonds. for supper time twisted maha mojitos sit with corgi pulled pork and lychee rose bellinis wash down hyderabadi duck. no tikka or bhaji in sight but it won’t be missed.
