the ultimate mid-week mates-meet up: a half-and-half 18 inch new york-style pizza, chased with homemade gelato and a solid local pale ale.
cue yard sale pizza, founded in clapton, now serving north londoners in finsbury park. born out of the pizza passion of three friends, the menu boasts five of their own ‘cult classics’ in the making, with a supporting cast of revolving special-guest combos.
wedges of fresh sourdough loaded with inventive toppings. they dare, for example to partner butternut squash and goat’s cheese with honey and tender stem broccoli with manchego atop a pie.
specials include an epic ‘cheesus walks’ with walnut pesto, the addictively salted ‘evil maestro’ with spicy anchovies, caper berries and whole black olives, and an ass kicking ‘hell yeah’ with spianata salami, peppers, guindilla chillies and chilli flakes.
at this joint, every ingredient counts, including the lovingly slow cooked tomato sauce and the excellent fior di latte mozzarella.
all washed down with moreish and locally crafted nonna’s gelato (the bitter sweet five points porter and chocolate ripple or the salted toffee apple come particularly well recommended) yard sale makes for a surprising and satisfying pig-out.
