very good looking and completely mashed because, well, this is amsterdam.
the main attraction is definitely the performer, not thephysical space. however, all the basics are more than adequately coveredwith a long, well-staffed bar, large projection screens and a knockingsound system. owing to the building's theatrical heritage

in the interest of full disclosure, i will begin this review with a caveat: i have only been to the sugar factory once in my life and it just so happened on this very same night the infallible richard dorfmeister was spinning; frankly, i would most likely give your grandmother's basement rave reviews if dr. richard were on the decks strictly off of principle. with that said, sugar factory is indeed a worthy establishment in its own right. initially a theater, the space waseventually revamped and turned into club amuse, which recently gave way to the sugar factory - a multi-purpose venue apparently spawned out of an admiration for the surrealist manifesto and devoted to all things performance in the form of art, music and theater.
