while it operates an ever expanding cluster of boutiques at homebase amsterdam, denham has made its first foray into provincial dutch territory, and opened its most beautiful store to date – if you ask us – in the historical heart of utrecht. situated on the lofty ground floor of the kosmos bulding, a listed, late 19th century structure by dutch architect p.j. houtzagers, it features an ornate brick façade, with the lower section captured in beautifully preserved lacquered timber, and large bay windows that allow in floods of daylight. the retail space measures 80 sqm. [861 sq.ft.], and obviously features denham's signature interior design.
the retail setting pairs a backdrop of whitewashed walls and a quirkily repurposed farmhouse floor with a collection of carefully sourced vintage props, including 1950's street lamps, brass tailor's scissors and tannery trollies. adding up to denham's carefully concepted retail narrative is a bespoke service desk, clad with over 200 individual brightly colored antique american measuring sticks. so, what's on the shelves? the new denham boutique focuses on its premium 5-pocket denim line for men, as well as seasonal menswear shirting, jersey, knits, tailored styles and outerwear, in addition to curated items from compatible other brands, such as the last conspiracy, converse and diadora. location: choorstraat 2 [centrum].
