tokyo: yield to temptation

new york-based artist todd james has a solo show, his very first in japan, at nanzuka gallery. james is known as one of the leading artists from the 1980s and 1990s street art scene in new york city. a participant in the graffiti scene since his mid-teens, he is also known by his tag name reas and has had an enormous effect on people of his generation around the planet as a symbol of the driving force behind the underground culture of the time. in 2000 he participated in the much publicized street market group show at the deitch project gallery in new york, and shot to global fame along with a string of other participating artists. called yield to temptation, todd james' solo exhibition opens sat - jun 2 [7pm-9pm], and features a series of new works. especially for this show nanzuka gallery collaborated with publishing company picturebox to present an eponymous book of the artist's drawings. location: 2-17-3-b1 shibuya [shibuya].
