opening on fri - nov 18 at diesel art gallery is voices!, a solo exhibition by british documentary photographer andrew beese a.k.a. beezer. hailing from bristol, beese left school early but later studied photography at the bristol technical college. In the early 1980s he made his first documentary photo series at a notoriously rough boy’s school in that city. it was also during that time that the bristol music scene flourished, both for live music and dj-ing, and that the conservative thatcher administration’s policies created social unrest and massive protest.
the voices! exhibition features the artist’s work from this era, shot both in bristol but also in london, barcelona and cairo. the show is divided into four themed sections: voices of protest, voices of music, voices of art and voices of people. mind you, both the exhibited works and limited edition art books can be snapped up, in addition to a series of tees, posters and tote bags. location: cocoti building, 1-23-16-b1 shibuya [shibuya].
