tokyo: open space 2012

currently on at ntt inter communication center is open space 2012, an interesting exhibition that introduces works of media art and other forms of artistic expression born out of today's media environments, to a broad audience. sort of a beginner's guide to media art, the show features leading works from the realm of media art, artworks incorporating cutting-edge technology, works with a critical standpoint, and additionally, projects that are currently in progress at various research institutions across the planet. all are being displayed along with explanatory notes designed to help the visitor gain better understanding according to the aim to present media art in a fun and easily accessible way. participating artists include toshio iwai, john wood + paul harrison, jun fujiki, gregory barsamian and takuro osaka. also scheduled during the exhibition period are a number of related programs including talk sessions, lectures, symposia and workshops with artists and experts, as well as guided tours around the exhibits with explanations by the curatorial staff [on through march of next year]. location: tokyo opera city tower, 4th floor, 3-20-2 nishi shinjuku [shinjuku].
