we had been wondering when it would happen, but the discerning eyewear brand with global following that is mykita finally opened up shop in the planet's retail capital of tokyo. the store is housed in the basement section of a two-storey building, tucked away in the boutique-infested labyrinth of little streets, just south of omotesando dori. this is mykita's sixth store, and like all the others it features the signature front-to-back presentation wall, comprising of an assembly of perforated steel angle beads used to support heavy-duty shelving, and clever backlighting. next to carrying the brand's entire collection of sunglasses, prescription spectacles and limited-edition + collab frames, it also stocks susanne kaufmann's organic cosmetics. the opening party pulled a cool crowd of avid mykita fans. location: 5-11-6-b1 jingumae [harajuku].
