The multi-storey GINZA SIX shopping centre in Tokyo‘s Ginza district has seen a wave of new store openings and shop renewals. One the new openings at this highly prestigious shopping centre is MM6 Maison Margiela, the women’s diffusion line of Maison Margiela. The MM6 Maison Margiela store first opened at GINZA SIX in 2017, and now, it has relocated elsewhere on the third floor to a bigger space. Occupying a 82 sqm. (883 sq.ft.) unit, and flanked by the boutiques of Off-White and AMBUSH, the store sees an entirely new look created by Maison Margiela‘s in-house design team in Paris. Inspired by the ‘ready-when-worn’ fashion philosophy, the brand’s quirky approach to ready-to-wear, the premises boast a minimalist setting captured in black and white. Mind you, a special black paint has been used which covers all kinds of surfaces, including flooring, displays and the decorative floor-to-ceiling transparent tubes which have been used as a decorative backdrop and to demarcate part of the store.
