tokyo: luxury in fashion reconsidered

fashionista alert! opening oct 31 at the museum of contemporary art is the exhibition luxury in fashion reconsidered. the show explores our changing times and values from the perspective of luxury through fashion. on display are 100 historical items, ranging from the 17th century to the present and includes contemporary stunners by chanel, viktor & rolf and balenciaga. a very special exhibit accompanying the show is concocted by designer rei kawakubo of comme des garçons. the fashion visionaire has selected pieces from the kyoto costume institute that will be showcased in a spectacular installation designed by kazuyo sejima of sanaa architects. location: 4-1-1 miyoshi [koto-ku]. © kyoto costume institute / top photo: taishi hirokawa - waistcoat [mid-18th century], bottom photo: takashi hatakeyama - comme des garçons [a/w 1991]
