tokyo: costume national flagship store opening

© costume national - façade of the costume national multiplex and retail space [top and bottom] compared to its previous digs here in tokyo, costume national's brand new flagship is a quantum leap forward. as the elaborate name costume national aoyama complex implies, it's a major statement by the brand, and incorporates additional spaces next to the store. housed in a minimalist concrete structure tucked away in a secluded corner of the upmarket shopping area of aoyama, its sleek interior was designed by creative director ennio capasa. cnac lab is an exhibition space, and currently hosts costume national - 25 years, an exhibition that puts a range of representative styles of the brand's extensive archive on display in a striking setting designed by architect ryuji nakamura. also on the ground floor is the cnac wall bar + café. the eye-catcher here is the lush and expansive vertical garden, created by renowned french botanist patrick blanc. location: 5-40-30 minami aoyama [aoyama].
