over the years we've seen a fair share of pop-up stores come and go, but cav empt's recently opened temporary retail space ranks among the most quirky. the japanese cult streetwear brand of influencers sk8thing and toby feltwell has ventured into the retail arena for the very first time, and has done so in a way that's as off-beat as its merchandise. officially called the cav empt short term retail experiment at beauty & youth united arrows, the pop-up has been set up inside the women's store of major japanese retailer united arrows in harajuku. tucked away on the third floor, it occupies a vast elongated space that has been furnished with merely a sales counter at the entrance and a retail set-up at the far end of the hall. halfway, shoppers pass an installation which projects imagery of graphics and other images that are emblematic of the brand onto the expansive all. cav empt's pop-up store stocks a rotation of merchandise that's refreshed very week [open through oct 4]. location: 2-31-12 jingumae, third floor [harajuku].
