the en route boutique in ginza, undoubtedly one of the most forward concepts of japanese retail giant united arrows, has just gotten a little more adventurous. how? well, by opening a blue bottle coffee pop-up store on its beautifully designed premises. the oakland-based coffee roaster only first arrived in this coffee addicted nation a year ago, but already manages four branches across tokyo – including a full-fledged roastery –and garnered a large following along the way. this pop-up venture is a collab based on the mutual sympathy that both companies have for each other, and the aim to venture into untrodden ground, mixing a niche kind of retail with niche of hospitality. similarly to en route's interior design, local architecture practice schemata has designed the setting of the blue bottle coffee pop-up store. its menu not only lists a selection of coffee blends and beans, but also branded paraphernalia such as a tote bag, a mug and a coffee dripper [open through mar 6]. location: en route, 3-10-6 ginza [ginza].
