tokyo doesn't exactly have a shortage of sophisticated retail concepts, but as shoppers here are extremely savvy and hard to please, retailers automatically go the extra yard to come up with something exceptional. and such is bloom & branch, a new lifestyle concept store in aoyama. launched by yohei kakimoto, formerly a press professional in the fashion industry, the store interior combines natural materials with a typically japanese sense of aesthetics. whitewashed walls are alternated by sections of bare concrete, both a perfect backdrop fo the suspended clothing racks and supersleek shelves of black steel. a sturdy wooden sales counter is placed in the back of the store. so, what's on the shelves here?
bloom & branch carries contemporary men's and women's apparel, shoes and accessories. as for garments, these consist of three contemporary house labels, and is supplemented by an edited range of items by foreign brands and imported vintage items. the brand list currently includes labels such as phlannel man, soso phlannel, s.e.h. kelly, leon flam and manolo blahnik. also on offer are shoes and accessories, cosmetics, select homewares and a collection of specially designed japanese tablewares. but that's not all, folks. also part of the retail formula is cobi coffee, a sleek in-store coffee parlour where hand-brewn black liquid is served by a trained barista. another feature is the bar by brift h, a professional shoeshine bar operated by brift h. location: 101 dai-ichi kuyo building, 5-10-5 minami aoyama [aoyama].
