© penfolds - a wine bar like no other
last weekend the blocks opened on walsh bay, a buzzing entertainment hub on sydney's waterfront. a collab between australian wine producer penfolds and london-based design practice studio toogood, it's an adventurously-designed pop-up wine bar + installation, featuring canopies of illuminated glass grapes and 'spade' chairs. yes indeed, it's all about discovering wines from down under. upon entering the venue, you're greeted by a trained sommelier who'll guide you to pick a wine that suits their personal palate. how? well, five wooden totems inspired by the five groups of grapes will be impregnated with different bespoke scents produced by a perfumer. once the preferred wine is revealed, you'll be able to sip penfolds wines, complemented by locally foraged and seasonal bites by chef jock zonfrillo [open through apr 6]. the installation will move to melbourne in may before going on an international tour. location: pier 2/3, hickson road [the rocks].
