sydney: masked intentions

he made she made gallery in sydney invited 21 artists and designers to create a bespoke mask to be part of its masked intentions exhibition and publication release. as no conceptual or material boundaries were set, other than that they must be wearable and fit a human sized head, the results are quite amazing. the finished masks take on various forms and present unique stories of their genuine or fictional significance to the world and their creators. participating artist include tamara maynes, eduardo wolfe-alegriaóscar casas, kitiya palaskas and vincent buret. photographer tomasz machnik shot the masks and these photos are also presented as limited edition prints [on through jun 9]. the masked intentions book features each of the 21 masks on display, alongside the artist's words and thoughts regarding their bespoke piece. it has a limited edition of only 100 copies and is available at the gallery. location: 70 oxford street [darlinghurst].
