not just another caribbean island, the good life on st. barth is more than frolicking on the beach and sipping bubbly. distinctly french, it obviously comes with a bit of culture. opening today [6pm-9pm] at eden rock gallery, arguably the island's leading venue for contemporary art, a group exhibition entitled the unknown opens. the show is presented in collab with art saint barth and based on the notion that more than others, artists often take risks and that creativity inspires them to explore the unknown. the spectator is invited on a visual journey through the various expressions of seven fascinating artists, be it an obsessive quest for aesthetic or the study of a particular technique. the works on display blur the boundaries between photography and painting, between the physical and the virtual, between man and his surrounding. the aforementioned seven artists are liu bolin, george condo, michael dweck, jasper johns, robert mapplethorpe, jack pierson and thomas ruff [on through apr 20]. location: eden rock hotel, baie de st.-jean [st. barth].
