© sauce - adding funky spice to esplanade mall esplanade mall may come in a starchitectural package, but we always thought its retail offerings were surprisingly bland. until now, that is. literally adding spice to the place is sauce, a new bar + grill located on the ground floor. launched by the people behind the popular butter factory club located a stone's throw away across singapore river, it's a funky place geared for good food and good times. it's designed by architecture practice zarch collaboratives, boasting an indoor area with a long bar and a large alfresco courtyard, filled with a highly eclectic mix of furniture, lights and glass panels strewn across a faux lawn. increasing the somewhat camp courtyard experience, trees and plants were added and the timber platforms were covered with astro turf. so what's cookin' at sauce? the menu features classic mains from the grill, such as pork rack, steak, king prawns, hot dog and burgers. these come with two complimentary side accompaniments, and living up to its name, they come recommended with three sauces from a selection of 17 gourmet sauces that range from sweet, spicy to savoury. and should you be in a hurry, there's the handy take-away kiosk. location: 8 raffles avenue, shop 01-10/12 [city hall].
