shanghai: peasant da vincis

artist cai guo qiang has the honour of having the newly opened rockbund art museum's inaugural show [on until jul 25]. dubbed peasant da vincis, the peculiar exhibition explores human creativity, invention, and their social impact, and features inventions by chinese peasants, including homemade flying machines, submarines, and robots. serving as creator, curator, and artist, he works in collaboration with people from rural communities throughout china to present their amateur inventions. location: 20 huqiu lu [the bund]. © rockbund art museum / photography: lin yi
