being an important asian market, chanel has stepped up its profile in south korea with a major showcase entitled culture chanel. the luxury brand has just opened an exhibition, curated by french art critic and artistic director jean-louis froment, at the newly opened dongdaemun design plaza in seoul. the show elaborates on the iconic fashion house's creative language through the many locations that inspired its founder coco chanel. it's an immersive brand showcase that is divided in ten sequences, each acting as a particular landmark in her life story. on display are over 500 artefacts, ranging from photos, objects, manuscripts, archival pieces and artworks, but of course also a range of chanel garments, jewellery, watches and perfume creations [on through oct 5]. the opening was a much-publicized event, attended more than 700 guests, including chanel dignitaries from paris and korea, a slew of celebrities and press. location: dongdaemun design plaza, 281 eulji-ro [dongdaemun].
