san francisco: technocraft

we voted technocraft our exhibition of the month! curated by designer yves béhar, the show at the yerba buena center for the arts focuses on the co-creation in design and the blurred boundary between designer and consumer. this trend has been aided by a number of social and technological trends such as social networking. it explores how an emotional connection to objects has been resurrected in individuals and how the realms of design and mass production have combined to once again allow for 'design in the age of individuality'. the technocraft show is organized around six subthemes: crowdsourcing, platforms, blueprints, hacks, incompletes, and modules. one project from the exhibition serves as illustration. participating designers and design projects include enzo mari for autoprogettazione, puma's mongolian shoe barbeque and ronan + erwan bouroullec's clouds for kvadrat [on until oct 3]. location: 701 mission street [union square]. © yerba buena center for the arts / jason broemmel - rocket bike
