operating a string of malls nationwide, iguatemi is synonymous upscale shopping in brazil, and the recently opened jk iguatemi shopping center in são paulo bears witness to the company's leading position. its expertise encompasses a thorough understanding of the fast-emerging local market, and that this retail segment and lifestyle are inextricably linked. hence iguatemi cleverly sponsors the iguatemi photo series, an annual cultural event that that aims to present the public with photography in the broadest sense, while teaching them a thing or two along the way. this year's edition, its sixth, opens tonight with an invite-only cocktail opening at museo brasileiro da escultura. on display are 100 works by celebrated italian lifestyle photographer willy rizzo, curated by fashion producer chico lowndes and international curator danniel rangel. the duo have works culled from rizzo’s entire oeuvre, including rare gelatin silver and cibachrome prints. also showcased are images of stars from the art and the fashion worlds, including those from rizzo’s trip to rio de janeiro during carnival in 1961, depicting his ex-wife elsa martinelli and notorious playboy porfirio rubirosa. other featured works are a stunning portrait of salvador dalí, as well as brigitte bardot, pierre cardinyves saint laurent and coco chanel [on through sep 2]. location: avenida europa 218 [jardim europa].
