the awe-inspiring splendour of the eternal city is surely is an incentive to splurge, and anyone heading there shortly may want to consider booking the most sophisticated lodgings in town. we're obviousy talking fendi private suites, the newly opened boutique hospitality concept by storied italian fashion house fendi. set inside palazzo fendi, an ornate 17th century mansion in downtown rome and the company's former head office, it's a stone's throw away from many of the city's historic landmarks, restaurants, art galleries, and last but not least, high-end boutiques. and speaking of shopping, fendi's roman flagship store is right downstairs, so finding a trophy souvenir won't be a problem.

fendi private suites comprises of seven lavishly appointed rooms designed by italian architect marco costanzi. hosting a demographic of picky globetrotters, the interior design isn't merely plush, but also oozes an effortless homey vibe. the aesthetic is contemporary and lavish, featuring a slew of contrasts and juxtapositions in materials and colours, all beautifully executed, and a collection of exquisite, cherry picked artworks. yes indeed, this is high-end living, fendi style. at 28 sqm. [301 sq.ft.], the junior suite is the establishment's most compact, but what it may lack in size, it makes up with superior comfort.

similar to the other rooms the suite comes with all modern amenities and services, including complimentary wifi, satellite tv, fendi casa bed + bath linen, and toiletries by diptyque. the two adjoining palazzo suites feature modern, welcoming settings, captured in luxurious materials. the artsy wall furnishings take cues from fendi's heritage, and include work tablets created by the fashion house's historic fur atelier and platinum prints of rome's most fountains by longtime collaborator karl lagerfeld. the two suites can be joined to accommodate up to four guests. thanks to three large windows, the two deluxe suites come with sweeping views of the scenic neighbourhood.

the aesthetic is defined by luxurious furnishings, beautiful oak flooring and a bathroom clad in marble. and yes, these suites can also be joined, should more living space be required. but for those who opt for the ultimate in fendi hospitality, there's the corner suite. measuring 59 sqm. [635 sq.ft.], it's not only the biggest space in the house, but also tops all other suites in terms of grand living. divided into two separate areas, the bedroom alone features four windows, flooding its meticulously designed setting with light from dusk till dawn. the living area is beautifully furnished with limited edition items from the private fendi collection, and obviously matching artworks adorn the walls.

a walk-in wardrobe? check. the bathroom, lined with marble and featuring a bath, complements the haute luxury experience. but that's not all, folks. up on the roof there's more fun to be had, of the culinary kind, that is. here, a new Italian outpost is about to open of london-based contemporary japanese restaurant zuma. the venue includes a dining section on the fourth floor and a lounge + bar one with outdoor terrace and splendid city views one floor up. location: via della fontava di borghese 48 [tridente].
