who says retail and culture don't go hand in hand? for the first time in over three decades luxury french department store printemps has expanded its retail network with a prestigious new branch in paris. the store is located at carrousel du louvre, the subterranean mall of the eponymous museum, and occupies 2,600 sqm. [27,986 sq.ft.] spread over two floors. the store carries a selection of merchandise that specifically aims to entice the hordes of well-heeled visitors that head for the museum, and includes a wide range of trophy bags and cosmetics on the lower floor and jewellery and watches on the mezzanine floor.
aligning itself with cultural splendour that's on display above ground, the new printemps store pitches in with an inaugural in-store exhibition entitled pop the bag. showcased at the center of the store are bag-inspired art works by international artists such as gilles cénazandotti, wang qiang, kordian lewandowski, fan xy and matt maitland [on through late march]. another notable fact is that due to strict regulations shoppers can't splurge on a daily basis, and this printemps store is now one of the very few luxury stores in the french capital that's even open on sundays. location: carrousel du louvre, 99 rue de rivoli [étienne marcel].
