based in the 13th arrondissement of paris, an area in full transition, galerie itinerrance is understandingly well-rooted in its urban environment. as such, the gallery has always had a focus on and connection with some of the french capital's leading urban artists. but not only that. as a true advocate of urban culture, it seeks opportunities to transcend traditional perimeters and make interesting connections elsewhere. one of galerie itinerrance's latest projects is a rather spectacular collab with urban redevelopment body semapa to adorn a stretch of paris' often notoriously congested eight-lane périphérique or ring road with a graffiti painting. the opportunity for this exceptional périphérique graffiti project arose when it was decided to redevelop the highway's exit into the 13th arrondissement. the ephemeral project covers 4,500 sqm. [48,438 sq.ft.] and features a futuristic crater, painted with a 3d effect by renowned german artist 1010. mind you, it took him 400 liters of paint and less than a week to get the job done. location: boulevard périphérique, quai d'ivry intersection [gobelins].
