highly sought-after supersnappers inez van lamsweerde and vinoodh matadin make their debut at gagosian gallery in paris with a solo exhibition. simply called inez & vinoodh - photographs, the show opens to the public today and features a series of eclectic pairings of works from different periods in the duo's career. van lamsweerde and matadin were among the first of their generation to embrace digital manipulation to portray the human condition, resulting in a variety of iconic images. visually savvy and with an adventurous approach towards aesthetics, they effortlessy combine the beautiful with the grotesque and the elegant with the extreme. from the beginning of their career in the early 1990s van lamsweerde and matadin have covered pretty much every genre, from nude, portrait, still life and tableau, but they've always attempted - and often succeeded - to add an edge of their own. also on display are new flower photographs, the duo's latest visual exploration that is inspired by their love of flowers and still life paintings of 17th-century dutch masters. although the exhibition can be accessed from today, the official opening party will be held sat - jan 26 [6pm-8pm] in attendance of the artists [on through mar 9]. location: 4 rue de ponthieu [champs-élysées].
