photographer juergen teller turned 50 earlier this year, and an aptly entitled show i am fifty is currrently on at galerie suzanne tarasieve in paris. teller made a name for himself in fashion circles through his non-conformist approach of the matter, embedding fashion in an unusual low-key context of authenticity, straightforwardness and witty irony. it isn't surprising his photography style blends well with the outspoken artistic vision and personality of designers such as vivienne westwood and marc jacobs, and for whom he has shot various campaigns. the gallery show presents three of his most recent photo series: woo , produced after his show at london's ica, masculin , a series inspired by the exhibition masculin / masculin at musée d’orsay in paris, and the compelling irene im wald which portrays teller's mother in a german forest [on through may 25]. location: 7 rue pastourelle [marais].
