after the initial showcase two years ago at the benaki museum in athens, the arrrgh! monsters in fashion exhibition arrives at la gaîté lyrique in paris where it opens on wed - feb 13. conceptualized by greek cultural collective atopos cvc, the show is based on its latest publication called not a toy - fashioning radical characters. the book is the first comprehensive study of the growing influence of today's character culture on fashion. the show is a three-dimensional extrapolation as it explores this specific field through a range of brilliant examples from the fashion galaxy. no less than 58 fashion designers and artists from across the planet exhibit over 80 costumes and installations, occupying pretty much all of the venue's exhibition space. interestingly, these works aren't put behind glass but are positioned as close to the viewer as possible to disclose all intricate details and ensure an interaction of sorts. participating designers and brands include walter van beirendonck, cassette playa, maison martin margiela, charlie le mindu and henrik vibskov. location: 3bis rue papin [marais].
