little over a month after aesop opened up shop in osaka, a second outlet has been launched at grand front osaka, a huge mixed-use complex opposite osaka station. the australian cosmetics brand renewed a collaboration with tokyo-based architecture practice torafu architects to design a lofty unit within the popular shopping mall. they've created a minimalist yet inviting retail setting that features columns of cedar, cut to varying lengths to form an island counter with sink and additional furnishings, against an unexpected backdrop of walls dipped in a soft pink hue. adding up to the sleek statement is a single pendant lamp, backed up by a number of ceiling-fitted down lights. the new aesop store carries the brand's full range of skin, body and hair care products. location: grand front osaka, south building, 4-20 ofuka-cho [umeda].
