amsterdam-based denim emporium tenue de nîmes and japanese jeans brand big john have teamed up for a special custom chino in a natural vintage selvedge denim. tenue de nîmes tweaked the aesthetics of the traditional work chino while adding a modern italian fit. they've quite masterfully redesigned the tapered pants into a japanese denim version and selected a washed denim fabric based on the highly characteristic ruri material. the vintage and naturally faded look was accomplished by the big washing 365 technique, a treatment inspired by a pair of light blue ruri denim that was worn for 365 consecutive days. big john first introduced their pre-washed jeans in japan back in the 1960s, in order to keep up with a fast-increasing demand as clients had become quickly accustomed to the soft fabrics of imported second-hand jeans from the states. this specific vintage look is big john's contemporary approach to pre-washing. fancy a pair? then click [here] to order yours.
