it's a well-known fact that asia is the new frontier for western brands, but it's an odd misconception that - apart from highly developed economies such as japan and korea - the region lacks a creative industry of its own that produces premium goods. indonesia is a good example that proves the opposite. fueled by a consistently booming economy, a growing middle class and hipster community, the country has seen a significant increase of local designers and brands that aim high with quality products, and chevalier is one of such ambitious ventures. founded in 2011 by jakarta-based designer egar putra bahtera, the company's collections have gone from strength to strength, and are popular with savvy shoppers in search of classic style with a contemporary twist.
chevalier shoes are all indonesian-made, but predominantly crafted from licensed australian and american leather, such as horween and wickett & craig, and have a solid goodyear welt construction. chevalier's newest collections, dubbed the chromexcel series for men and the belgian loafer series for women, are once again statements of timeless chic. shown here are our fav two of the four new men's styles. the shoes are currently only available at select stores across indonesia, but can also be ordered by e-mail and paypal like many shoppers residing abroad have done before.
