with the upcoming 2010 world cup in south africa, soccer fiercely rules the planet. dutch designer floor wesseling cracks the sport's visual coding, as often deployed on the players' shirts, with his new book blood in blood out which is released by bis publishers. interestingly, he researched medieval heraldry and similarities can be found in today's society, notably in the realm of soccer. wesseling fuses shirt designs from different teams into new emblems, telling stories about rivalry, social communities, city and country derbies and soccer battles. the book contains a short introduction to the system and symbols of heraldry and is currently available online. © bis publishers
