jay smith and greg hervieux are the two paris-based urban culture gurus behind the influential blackrainbow label. the duo have worked on a new collab project with international brand puma that has been in the works for more than a year. as you can imagine, the result is smashing! both parties worked on two shoe models, the r698 og and the r698 ltwt. a nod to the sportswear giant's heritage and futuristic inspirations, the sneakers blend neutrals, faded greens, and earth tones along with hits of teal branding and eyelets. blackrainbow are specialists when it comes to street culture and the digital arena, and with this project they wanted to mix earth-like qualities such as the camo-inspired colourway with digital details like the printed 3m to the future shoe. the shoes carry the message that even if you're changing and evolving, you have to remember where you came from. a special release party will be held on fri - apr 5 [10pm-4am] at favela chic while the shoes drop exclusively in the blackrainbow's store the very next day [at other select outlets one week later]. store location: 68 rue des archives [marais]. party location: 18 rue du faubourg du temple [canal st.-martin].
