london and zurich-based art gallery hauser & wirth goes transatlantic, opening an art space in the upper east side. the inaugural show is a presentation and reinvention of yard, a seminal work by painter / installation artist allan kaprow [†]. a veritable mountain of black rubber car tires and tarpaper-wrapped forms through which visitors jumped and crawled, first made by the artist in 1961, it's a sprawling reinvention of yard by performance artist william pope.l at the site of the work’s original creation: the then home of the legendary martha jackson gallery and now the address of hauser & wirth's new gallery. location: 32 east 69th street [upper east side]. © hauser & wirth
