new york: the new typography

just opened at the museum of modern art is the new typography, an exhibition dedicated to jan tschichold's new typography movement which brought graphics and information design to the forefront of the artistic avant-garde in europe in the 1920s and 1930s [on until jul 12]. the movement rejected traditional arrangement of type in symmetrical columns and organized the printed page a blank field in which blocks of type and illustration could be arranged in strikingly asymmetrical compositions. location: 11 west 53rd street [midtown]. © museum of modern art - peter stone poster fund / jan tschichold - die frau ohne namen [1927]
