teamania is to get its grip on williamsburg with today's opening [1pm-7pm] of tea bar. founded by photographer brett casper, it's the first and only kombucha café in this corner of new york city, and serves organic, locally produced, gourmet kombucha brewed by casper's own brand kombucha party. currently stocked are six flavours [four more will be added by next summer], and all are available by the glass or in clear champagne bottles to go. additionally, tea bar carries a well-edited selection of organic fair trade teas and different needle varieties while those addicted to coffee can indulge in french organic coffee from gimme coffee and ucc coffee from japan. interestingly, the tea bar is equally green, being located in a leed certified and solar powered green building. its interior has a modern northern euro feel, mixing glass and concrete with vintage barn beams and barn siding. the friendly vibe is completed with flowers, plants and a sunny backyard. the formula caters well to the needs of community, offering a place to read, think and chill out. location: 439 metropolitan avenue [williamsburg east].
