pier 57 along new york's hudson river will see a radical redevelopment in the coming years that'll turn the venue into a new contemporary meeting place for manhattanites. by 2015 it'll feature an expansive area with a large rooftop public park, several restaurants, shops and hospitality venues, a marketplace built from re-purposed shipping containers and even its very own cultural program. the marina at pier 57 is a temporary shipping container installation within the south end of the pier. throughout the summer it'll host an abundance in creative emerging talent in food, fashion, art and more.
young woo & associates, the organization responsible for the redevelopment, has commissioned ten urban artists to take part in an immersive collective exhibition, to use floor below a suspended shipping containers installation as a canvas. starting today through jul 1, the artists will be busy setting up the showcase and create art for an exhibition called pier pressure that can be accessed by the public until the end of july. it's going to be a massive painting installation that'll see may artists join forces, including subtexture, sinned, rj raizk, depoe and rrobot. location: hudson river greenway [chelsea].
