new york: japan fashion now

the tokyo! look! event held earlier this month at the asia society was just a pre-taster, the japan fashion now exhibition at the museum at f.i.t. is the real deal. it's the very first show to explore contemporary japanese fashion in all its diversity, from designer fashion to street style, and also includes menswear. interestingly, an introductory gallery devoted to japan's 1980s fashion revolution features iconic designs by various directional designers, including yohji yamamoto, rei kawakubo of comme des garçons and issey miyake [on until jan 8]. location: 227 west 27th street [garment district]. © the museum at the fashion institute of technology / number (n)ine - men's outfit a/w 2009 collection
