new york: general idea f/w 2013 collection

for fall 2013 general idea goes haute nomadic, inspired by photography of tibetan pilgrims on journeys through the far east. functional utilitarianism dominated the collection with a focus on sombre tones of blue, grey, tan, khaki, tweed and black. on the fall agenda - subtle quilting on blazers and pants, micro prints, textured wool layering, buckles, toggles, snap buttons, zippers and contrast piping. outer wear was detail oriented featuring blazers, capes and overcoats with rectangular panelling and pocket details reminiscent of classic utility jackets. trousers were stove piped and tapered or volume heavy and layered with deep pockets. innovative fabric combinations combined with a more structured silhouette paved the way for a refined, ethno-athletic fall 13' collection. modernist mountaneering anyone?
