perhaps better known as a dynamic design duo, menswear demi gods sam shipley and jeff halmos have recently kicked off a publishing house, s&h publishers, and are releasing their first photo essay book, everyone must be announced by photographer aaron stern. the book captures the experience of watching live music, being in the crowd and connecting with your fellow concert revelers and the band. shifting the focus away from the artist, the candid images document the expressions in the crowds, the architecture of venues, the marriage of light and sound - and how they all interact for the ultimate concert experience.
aaron stern shot these images at shows, including sonic youth, sleigh bells, grizzly bear, arcade fire, the strokes, animal collective, charlotte gainsbourg, phoenix, the kills, and beach house. wed night [jan 18th] the book was launched for signing at milk gallery in nyc. in attendance - an array of exotic local flora and fauna with ketel one cocktails and dj sets by alexa chung, tennessee thomas, and andrew wyatt of miike snow. for more info on the book and how to get a copy, visit shipley & halmos.
