brooks brothers opened an interesting new store concept in new york city. dubbed the brooks brothers flatiron shop, it features casual interpretations of the brand's most iconic items for men and women that'll appeal to a younger, more hipster demographic. measuring 7,200 sq.ft. spread over three floors, the store pretty much is preppy heaven. the interior is meticulously detailed and features a mix of exposed brick walls, rugby-striped and oxford fabrics, repurposed antique furniture, a loft mezzanine lounge, and vintage collegiate imagery from the brand's archives. matching curtains have been made from blown-up signature repp stripe tie patterns surround the double height windows.
for the coming season the brooks brothers flatiron shop will carry a mix of old school and new school looks, comprised of campus faves such as original polo button-down oxford shirts offered in extra slim fit proportions, washed tattersall and ground stripe patterned sport shirts, and athletic inspired items such as tennis sweaters, distressed hooded sweaters and graphic rugby shirts, in addition to a selection of updated suiting and furnishings. women can snap up new takes on classics such as rugby shirt dresses, fairisle and cable-knit sweater dresses, plaid skirts and vintage tweed shorts.
this brooks brothers flatiron shop will be the template for future stores that'll open across the u.s. and abroad. interestingly, the opening marks the return of brooks brothers to the flatiron area where it occupied a store a few blocks down the road from 1884 to 1915. location: 901 broadway [nomad].
