acne may already have had an outlet in new york city but that was a surprisingly small store, and operated by opening ceremony. now the swedish fashion brand has stepped up its presence, and opened a stellar 4,000 sq.ft. flagship, similar to previous retail statements in paris and copenhagen. designed by acne's creative director jonny johansson, the interior mirrors the location's history and environment but has an intentional swedish edge. this resulted in a clean and simplified design with smooth and expansive surfaces. and referencing the geographical location of homebase stockholm, black and white block-striped tiles frame an island of green carpet while a blue horizon glass panel is reminiscent of the colours of this swedish mini archipelago.
the shoe salon in the back of the store is lined in marble, and features bespoke stools designed especially for the space. hot pink and black steel pillars support the ceiling and punctuating the ceiling is a combination of three track spotlighting and bespoke led lighting. needless to say that the new acne flagship carries the brand's full men's and women's collections. obviously, today's opening party pulled a huge hipster crowd, and included the likes of duncan campbell, garance doré and glenda bailey. the night before celebrations already kicked off with a dinner in swedish midsummer style at il buco alimentari for the jolly few. location: 33 greene street [soho].
