nairobi: kibera faces

11 february 2009 by andreas

french guerilla shnapper jr returns to kibera, a district of nairobi and one of the largest slums on the planet. he met up with a group of women with whom he had collaborated in a project in 2007. this time 2000 sqm. of rooftops will be covered with photos of the faces of the women of kibera. most of them will have their own photos on their own rooftop and for the first time the material used is water-resistant so that the photo itself will protect the homes in the rainy season. additionally, the train that passes through the area twice daily bears photos of the women's eyes. we reckon they should also be visible on google earth! © jr / photo: train passes through kibera [click image to enlarge]
