nairobi: a million shillings

alixandra fazzina is an islamabad-based british photographer who focuses on under-reported conflict and the often forgotten humanitarian consequences of war, and has worked for a slew of renowned publications. she is the author of a million shillings – escape from somalia which chronicles the exodus of migrants and refugees along people smuggling routes from somalia to the arabian peninsula. an eponymous photo exhibition opens sun - may 15 at the nairobi national museum, featuring a series of photos from the publication that took two years to complete. location: museum hill, museum hill road [westlands].
