paul smith's coveted collections had been available for a while at the brand's ground floor retail unit at g.u.m., an illustrious retail institution in the russian capital. the british brand recently launched a second store at petrovskiy passage, an upscale mall only a few blocks away. the new retail unit measures 130 sqm. [1,399 sq.ft.] and features an interior design that combines classic and modern elements. antique furniture and fittings, subtle brass features and wooden paneling all add up to a sophisticated retail environment. two antique tables sourced in the u.k. form a focal feature, in the style of an old department store. shoppers enter the paul smith shop through a lobby enclosed by folding doors. the space is divided into two main areas, men’s and women’s. on the left hand side of the shop, an alcove with decorative panels is at the centre of the women’s area. the back of the store displays men’s clothing and larger accessories, and is accessed via a decorative door at the centre of the shop’s main feature wall. location: petrovskiy passage, ulitsa petrovka 10 [tverskaya].
