after closing down its store on mount street earlier this year, mackintosh has resurfaced in london's booming retail scene with a brand new flagship. situated among a slew of boutiques of peers from the luxury industry, the iconic brand picked a 134 sqm. [1,442 sq.ft.] ground floor retail space which boasts an interior design that perfectly reflects its new and hybrid creative trajectory of late, one that blends traditional heritage and contemporary luxury. the plush setting, created by japanese practice d.brain which also renovated the mackintosh flagship store in tokyo, pairs herringbone parquet flooring at the front of the store with slabs of white marble towards the rear, all against backdrop of moulded panels.
silver chrome showcases display the collections and all furniture and fittings have been made in white, silver and black to complement the interiors. the new mackintosh store carries the brand's full men’s and women’s collections, in addition to shoes, accessories, bags and ready to wear. as the brand's focus has become much more in sync with modern times, product collabs and special projects are to be launched regularly. as a result, a glass cabinet has been created within the far wall of the store to house these, and currently on display are items that have been jointly concocted with japanese contemporary fashion label hyke. location: 19 conduit street [mayfair].
